I love the Olympics. They only come around every 2 years and there is something so special about watching all the countries of the world come together to compete against either other. Having the best athletes in the world in one place. But I think what I love more than the sports are the personal stories of triumph and learning about the place where the Olympics are held. Even if the stories are sappy and emotional, they are inspiring. Makes me feel like I can do anything I want if I put my mind to it. And I always get motivated to go for the 6 pack abs.
However, I’m not getting any sleep. My favorite sports are the swimming, gymnastics and track and of course none of these end until almost 1:00 am. I keep trying to turn it off and just listen and then the announcers get all excited and I have to put my glasses back on and see what is going on.
Fortunately it’s summer and I drag myself out of bed the next morning and drag myself through the day accomplishing nothing because I can’t focus. At least it’s only for a few weeks every 2 years.
So, are you getting any sleep? Are you mesmerized each night by the Olympics? Or am I the only one?

I love this show and I’ve really missed it. I have all the episodes on my iPod (except last 4 cuz that’s when NBC pulled them from iTunes) and I watch them all the time. I can’t wait until the new season starts in Sept.
I kind of like the duality of that title. It is a post and it’s my post vacation post.
I’m usually not so creative with titles so I had to point out how creative I was today.
Life is getting back to normal here. We’ve gone to the pool a few times, taken some walks, ate out.all the usual stuff. Jason is still off of work until Monday so we are enjoying the last few days.
I love summer. Have I mentioned that? Right now I have 5 extra kids at my house and I think there is less chaos than when I have only my own 4. Mostly because my oldest is alone which is how he prefers it. My 2nd has 2 friends and she is occupied. My 3rd has 2 friends over and is being a loud boy (in the basement) and they are loving it. My youngest has 1 friend over and they are watching Dora and playing with dolls. Everyone is occupied and having fun. What could be better? Well alone might be, but it’ll be about 14 years before I really am alone.
Oh.and Jason is on a mission too. He is insisting on buying a new car. He gets this itch every 3-4 yrs. We currently have a Suburban and this all started because the gas is a fortune now for our family vehicle. We looked at minivans, but there is no way we can fit a family of 6 plus all our “stuff” in a minivan for vacation. Our Suburban was crammed with stuff last week. So.we need a Suburban, but he wants a new one. He loves the new car smell. I HATE car shopping because no matter what deal we get, I know we are getting taken for a ride (pun intended). The whole process just stresses me. So I tell him what I want and what I can’t live without and he does the rest. Plus.have you ever been car shopping with kids? 4 of them? NOT FUN!!!
They are still very busy on Steph’s house. I took some pictures.

Just to give you an idea how things are going.
Michele, I know I’m old but I don’t have any idea what you have been talking about in the blog at all. I got the baseball day but that’s it. What is all that I’m pretty tech savy but I think you’ve got me now.
Is Jason home this week?
This is kind of cool if you use a lot of different services. It aggregates your services into a timeline of your internet activity. Here is my timeline:
You can grab anywhere inside the box and move it left or right. If you click on one of the items, it will take you directly to that item. I have to add a few more services to my timelines. So far, you can add flickr, picasa, blogger, wordpress, last.fm, pandora, YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, Yelp & and RSS feed. Check it out at dipity

Yesterday, Jason (dh) woke up and decided today was the day we were going to take the kids to a baseball game. I grew up watching baseball and we to the stadium a lot during the summer. But I don’t think I’ve seen a baseball game in person in 20 years. The Nationals have just started playing at a brand new stadium so I figured it was time to go see them.
We decided to take the metro downtown since we heard parking was scarce at the stadium. We got off at the Smithsonian stop and went to the natural history museum first. We quickly wen through it because my youngest was afraid of almost every exhibit. She didn’t like the dinosaurs, the skeletons, the bugs or the rocks. She did like the hope diamond.
Then we got back on the Metro over to the Navy Yard stop and got off and walked 600 feet (according to the website that is how far the stadium is from the metro stop) and there we were.
We had to have a hot dog and ice cream and popcorn and pretzels. The kids thought it was a lot of fun, however, Megan kept saying “is it over yet?” about 100 times. We all got free t-shirts (t-shirt Tuesday), but they only had one size.XL.
The Nats were not playing well at all, so we left during the 7th inning stretch so we could beat the crowds on the Metro. It was a nice day.
I have seen her before and it is so funny. We have all said most of those things.
Well life is very strange here. Mike is visiting and we are working on Steph’s house. There is quite a bit of termite damage so the sub floor and those board that hold up the floor have to be replaced. Not all but 18 of them in the dining room and living room and part of the kitchen. Mike and Steph tore out the floor so Jim can start. They have been trying to do the labor stuff so we can use him to build rather than tear down. We all worked on the bathroom to get that down to the studs too. We have almost filled a huge dumpster.
Been doing a lot of back and forth and running to get this and that. The new roof is on and it looks great. Steph has met most of her new neighbors and they seem really nice. So things are moving along.
Been talking to Serena a lot too since Mike is here. I don’t know how that is going to work out either. Somehow they will figure it out for the best.
Dad is very tense too. Business has slowed down a lot and he is not a very pleasant person to live with at all. He is going to have to get his act together and not take it out on other people. Everything sets him off.i guess “This too shall pass”.
This video is making it’s rounds again in my circle. I just love it. I think I probably say about 75% of it…maybe not all in one day, but definitely in a week.
Enjoy…and let me know how much of this you say in a day…
